About the 3.0 translations

Some of the German and Spanish text in 3.0 was translated by AI and has not been reviewed by a native speaker.

The German and Spanish translations began as human work. Andreas Bruchwitz contributed and reviewed the German, and Lucas Lorenzi contributed and reviewed the Spanish, and SF Tabs is much better for it.

Since that review the interface has changed a great deal. Settings moved into the popup, org colors and the header menu arrived, and a lot of wording was rewritten along the way. Those new and changed strings were machine-translated so that German and Spanish users would not be left looking at untranslated English, and they have not been through the same review.

So, to be clear about who is responsible for what:

  • Andreas and Lucas are credited for the translations they contributed and reviewed.
  • They are not responsible for the machine-translated text added since, and any awkward phrasing or outright mistakes you find in 3.0 are far more likely to be ours than theirs.

If you speak German or Spanish and something reads badly, please tell us — see below. Corrections are welcome and easy to make.

Reporting a translation problem

Found a string that is wrong, unclear, or just unnatural? Please open an issue on GitHub. Include:

  • the language
  • what the text currently says
  • what it should say

A screenshot helps but is not required.

Helping with a review

If you would like to review a whole language rather than a single string, that would be very welcome. Open an issue on GitHub and say so — the translations live in a single file per language, and it can be shared in whatever format suits you.
